Baby Sutton came to the studio in early January. He arrived just before the New Year, on Dec 29 and was welcomed by not only his mom and dad, but also his very proud big brother, Will. Its been so wonderful getting to know the Nessman family. From their wedding, to their first baby boy, Will, to rounding out their family with newborn Sutton, its been a true pleasure to watch them grow and be able to capture those milestones along the way.
The first time I met Kim was just one week before her wedding date. Luckily I had the pleasure of meeting her sister Carlee, who conveniently runs Pocketful Productions – event & wedding planning. With Kim & Ryan oversea until just before their wedding, Carlee handled all correspondence until my in person meeting with Kim. The ceremony was held at Filberg Park, followed by the reception at Kim’s family home, which has a picturesque view of the ocean. This made it easy to sneak out during the reception for one last photo before sunset.
Having a May wedding up at Mount Washington prooved absolutely amazing! Taylor and Cory had a day with perfect weather (once we rose above the fog)! Capturing the first look was such a special treat, especially when there was no one else present to experience that sweet moment where the bride and groom first set eyes on each other. Taylor and Cory were full of emotion and I couldn’t help but feel the anticipation as Taylor walked up behind Cory and tapped him on the shoulder.
I found myself a little more sentimental feeling then most weddings as this was also our wedding venue nearly 9 years ago. There have been many changes over the last 9 years as Mount Washington has made itself stand out as a exceptional venue to host both the ceremony and reception. Some things remain just as vivid, such as the breathtaking, scenic alpine backdrop. Raven Lodge is one of those venues that doesn’t require much in the way of décor as the tall windows showcase the captivating views and the post and beams, highlighted by lanterns, give a warm, intimate feeling.
Sara & Robb married on a beautiful sunny, Spring day at the Little Red Church in Comox. Tucked behind the community hall, where many have visited for various craft and community events, is a little chapel that dates back to 1885. While the hall, built in the ’70’s, has received extensive renovations, the little chapel is a step back in time, and a wonderful one at that. On that day in March, the light poured through the tall windows, and streamed across the expectant guests. It was wonderful to see the joining of two families as Sara and Robb’s daughters waited with Robb at the front of the chapel. Sara walked down the aisle with the brightest smile as always, her father proudly at her side. I am always so thankful to be apart of such beautiful moments and truly appreciate that my job allows me to capture love and emotion.
Dash came to my studio last week to celebrate his 1st birthday! Another extra special cake made with love by his mom’s good friend, Diana. Karen also brought some birthday fun, dressing up the session with adorable outfits as well as balloons and banners! Dash wasn’t too sure about the cake at first but once the ladies showed him how its done (you’d had to see it!) he was good to go!
